Why Choose Dr. Witkoff for Lip & Tongue-Tie Treatment?
Dr. Jesse Witkoff is a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist who has over a decade of experience with Restricted Oral Tissue (ROT). He has been at the forefront of tongue/lip tie release since he began working in this specialty and has taken hundreds of hours of education on this topic. He also lectures nationally and educates other providers on this specialty. He has dedicated the entire practice to tongue and lip tie release in order to ensure that each patient gets the time needed to fully understand the condition and treatment we offer.
The Initial Examination & Procedure
Our initial examination is about an hour long. We want to allow plenty of time for you to ask questions and make sure that we thoroughly explain everything, including the diagnosis and treatment options. If you and Dr. Jesse Witkoff decide that moving forward with treatment is the right decision, our team can complete the release during the same appointment if you want to. While there’s no pressure to do this, we always like to offer this option so you don’t need to worry about scheduling a separate appointment. Plus, the treatment itself only takes about 30 seconds using our cold CO2 laser.
Our measured success rate is between 90 and 95% in resolving the functional issues presented in patients with lip and tongue ties. Due to our extensive experience, advanced technology, and coordination with other specialists, like myofunctional therapists, we’re able to achieve a much higher success rate than other practices performing this procedure.
Symptoms to Look Out For
Below is a list of lip or tongue-tie symptoms we commonly see in children 18 months to 5 years old so you can see if your child is experiencing any of these symptoms:
Common Symptoms and Issues Experienced by Children Aged 18 Months to 5 Years Old:
- Difficulty eating solids
- Reflux and spit up due to their inability to break down their food into smaller sizes for swallowing
- Difficulty with certain letters in speaking like “L, R, S, Sh/Zh, Th, etc.” because they cannot bring the tongue to the roof of the mouth
- Prone to more tooth decay
- Prone to needing orthodontics in the future because the upper arch was not widened by the tongue and teeth come in crowded
- Snoring and airway issues. Poor sleep habits
- Irritability due to poor eating and sleep issues
Cost of Lip & Tongue-Tie Treatment
Our initial exam fee is $75.00 and our fee for the procedure itself at this age is $900.00. Typically, in order to achieve full oral function, we will need to do both a tongue and lip tie release, which are both included in this fee. These fees are collected on the date of service.
As for insurance, we can help you file your own insurance claim by printing out the dental and/or medical claim forms for you with the procedure codes already filled out. We will then show you how to fill out a couple of questions on the top of the form so you can mail it into your insurance company. Once approved by the insurance company, you will receive a reimbursement in the mail.
We have noticed that between 85 and 90% of patients with dental insurance are receiving reimbursements. With medical insurance, because the out-of-deductibles are much higher, any coverage that is being applied is going directly towards their out-of-network deductible and not the treatment itself. However, every plan is different, so it may be worthwhile to file with both.
We encourage you to schedule a consultation with our team by calling 720-743-3340. Once we confirm your appointment spot, you’ll receive an automated email that contains a link to fill out our online new patient forms. We ask that you fill out these forms no later than three business days prior to your appointment so we can move you forward in the process.
